3 piece square socket set
Ideal for the 1415A and 1415C kits. The sockets will fit the
square and shank on the Drill, Counterbore, Tap and Driver
giving you more control of the tools. P/n 70940 listed below.
The Drill size on the 1415A & 1415C is .578 inches.
Your normal 1/2 drill motor will not open large enough
to hold the shank of this drill.
This tap socket set is useful in vehicles like VW,
Honda, Chrysler and many others, because of obstructions
like a frame rail, it would not be possible to use a drill motor
because the angle will not be straight.
Square drive sockets will give you more control of the tools
then a standard 12 point scoket because they support the tool shanks.
Using a standard 1/2 drive ratchet you can turn the tooling by hand.
Another option is using 12 point
sockets to turn squares on kit tools :
Our tooling is supplied with square drives.
Normally you would use a TAP-WRENCH on taps or tools with squares.
But you will probably not have enough room for a tap wrench because of
clearance issues with a frame rail or some obstruction. Square drive
sockets are another option. If you do not have square drive sockets you
may optionally try to use 12 point sockets to drive the squares on tools.
12 point sockets generally will hold a square better than a 6 sided socket.
EXAMPLE FOR M14x1.5 DRAIN PAN KIT 12 POINT SOCKETS.
1) Drill square = 1/2 inch 12 point socket.
2) CounterBore square = 7/16 inch 12 point socket.
3) Tap square = 7/16 inch 12 point socket .
4) Driver tool square = 3/8 inch 12 point socket.
This is only one possible solution to turning a tool with a square drive.

If there are no obstructions where you can use a drill motor as in many
motorcycle and ATV applications use kit p/n 1415CS&D.
This kit uses a reduced shank drill for 1/2 drill motor.
